Is Taylor Heinicke 'The Guy' For WFT In 2022? Heinicke has shown a lot of promise and talent in 2021, but against some teams, like the Cowboys, he's also shown his limitations. PLEASE: ? Washington Football Team Daily Blitz
WFT Beats Raiders: Deja Vu In The Desert Recap Washington Football Team's 17-15 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Las Vegas on Sunday stretched the team's win streak to four games. It was a game dominated by defense, and once again, the WFT defense showed up to play. A defense that hasn't allowed an opposing offense to clip the 300 total yard mark in four games, and gave up just 304 the game prior to that, allowed the Raiders just 310 on Sunday, 18 of those coming in desperation time at the end of the game. But it wasn't just the defense that willed this team to a win, as quarterback Taylor Heinicke overcame a stout pass rush by the Raiders and a fourth-quarter interception that gave the Raiders the lead. Heinicke completed 23 passes on 30 attempts for 196 yards, two touchdowns, and a late interception that put his team down by one. He was inaccurate and hurried at times but ultimately kept plays alive with his footwork and made throws when it mattered most. After giving up the lead, Heinicke orchestrated an eight-play, 44-yard drive to set up new kicker Brian Johnson for the game-winning 48-yard field goal to regain the lead. Without J.D. McKissic, Washington would rely on Antonio Gibson to carry the load, which he did, to the tune of 88 yards on 23 carries. It was deja vu for the Washington Football Team, as back in Week 22 against the New York Giants, Heinicke threw what looked like the game-losing interception in the fourth quarter, but was given another chance. He led the offense on an 11-play, 50-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal. Sound familiar? Risk-taking quarterbacks like Heinicke have to operate on a short memory. And he appears to have mastered that ability. Washington's defense is playing well, Heinicke is playing well, and on a four-game winning streak, WFT doesn't seem like a team anyone wants to play right now, as it holds the sixth seed in the NFC playoff picture. Washington currently has its sights set on the NFC East division leader Dallas Cowboys and will meet Dallas in two of the next three games. PLEASE: ? Like the video ? 3 In A Row: Can WFT Defend Its East Title? PLEASE: ? Like the video ? Subscribe to the channel You can follow the Daily Blitz Podcast and others like it at https://www.DSPMediaOnline.com The Washington Football Team beat the Seattle Seahawks Monday night 17-15 on a national stage, and in dramatic fashion. Those are not the kinds of games Washington fans are used to seeing their team win, especially against Seattle, a team that has knocked Washington out of the playoffs two of its last four appearances. Three wins in a row for Washington is not a fluke. This team is gelling. The roster is gelling. The quarterback is quietly becoming a franchise leader. Most importantly, the defense is playing lights-out without two of its biggest stars. In its last four games against Denver, Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Seattle, Washington has held each opponent to under 300 total yards, and if you throw in the game before Denver, against the Green Bay Packers, the trend almost continues, as the Packers had only 304. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke played well, and make no mistake, is one of the reasons for the win. He completed 27 passes on 35 attempts for 223 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. That interception was misplayed by the receiver on a deep ball and deflected into the arms of a defender. It didn't hurt, either, as two plays later, Washington's defense got the ball back on a fumble recovery. Could it be this team is getting hot just at the right time? It's a long season, the first-ever NFL 17-game season, so a lot can still happen. Washington is just 11 games into it, but things are looking up for a franchise that needs something good to happen to it. Washington won the NFC East in 2020 with a 7-9 record. It will most certainly surpass the seven-win mark with six games still to play. Current East leader, 7-4 Dallas, is in a nosedive, losers of three of its last four, and dealing with internal COVID-19 protocol issues that could derail the season even further. If WFT can remain hot, and if the defense can continue to perform well, then a repeat of NFC East champions is not out of reach. Presented by BetUS.com - Bet with the 3-Decade leader, BetUS! Is the WFT defense on the rise? PLEASE: ? Like the video ? Subscribe to the channel You can follow the Daily Blitz Podcast and others like it at https://www.DSPMediaOnline.com In 2020 Washington Football Team's defense stood out as one of the best in the league. It might've been called borderline elite. With players like Chase Young and Montez Sweat coming into their own last season, the WFT defensive front was a force to be reckoned with not just in the NFC East, but the rest of the NFL too. It's the defense that was mostly responsible for the NFC East title last season while the offense and quarterback Taylor Heinicke were still finding their legs. But that defense hasn't appeared yet in 2021, or has it? With names like Young and Sweat sidelined with injuries, it would be easy for this club to shut down and call it a lost season. But the Washington defense has done the opposite. Washington's defense has played well enough over the last month to wonder if it's back to 2020 form. In its last four games over the last five weeks, WFT is fourth in the league in yards allowed (286.8), first in rushing yards allowed (76.0), 10th in passing yards allowed (210.8), and 14th in points allowed (20.3). In its last three games against Denver, Tampa Bay, and Carolina, Washington has held each opponent to under 300 total yards, and if you throw in the game before Denver, against the Green Bay Packers, the trend almost continues, as the Packers had only 304. It's notable that what might be considered the toughest stretch of the schedule is complete, and with the remaining games, the defensive unit might only improve.
